Rosebud Art Studio, in its mission to support neighborhood children, is collaborating with public schools in the Brooklyn area. We are seeking to hire instructors for after-school art programs at our partner schools in Brooklyn, as well as to expand our roster of teachers for our 

art studio located at 777 Coney Island Avenue throughout the school year. If you are a dedicated visual artist based in Brooklyn with a passion for teaching art to children, we would love to hear from you!

Teaching Artist, Visual Art

Education – Master’s Degree

Position Type – Part Time Permanent 

Salary – $29 to $35 (Hourly)

 

Job Summary

We are looking for kind-hearted, highly engaging art educators who are also practicing artists. The art educator will be placed inside a Brooklyn-based public school to teach After-school Art Programs.

 

MFA in Visual Art is preferred, BFA or MA will also be considered.

Artists who apply should possess a good working knowledge of modern and contemporary art practices, as well as experience in teaching elementary and middle school students.

Artists should be able to demonstrate their watercolor, tempera, acrylic and oil painting skills effectively, so that their students may gain proper knowledge of the materials and their methods.

Other art-making techniques we use frequently at Rosebud Art Studio include collage, printmaking, cardboard construction, clay and papier-mâché. Our artists should have the skill-level and mastery to be able to teach these art making techniques to young students.

Working knowledge of the pottery wheel is an added qualification; if not possessing this qualification, the applicant should be willing to learn pottery skills so that they may teach these skills to their students.

Interested applications must have experience working with children and a strong understanding of childhood development, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students effectively.
